Assistant Manager – Residential Care Location: Wrexham
Are you an experienced care professional looking for a leadership role in residential childcare? We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of a children’s home in Wrexham. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work within a well-regarded organisation committed to delivering high standards of care and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Service Manager to oversee all aspects of statutory compliance and ensure delivery of statutory requirements in Cardiff.
Contribute to the development and review of individual care plans, risk assessments, and health care documentation for children and young people.
Assist in managing all care delivery functions, including admissions and discharges, maintaining strong relationships with social workers, families, and relevant professionals.
Act as designated Safeguarding Officer, promoting a safe environment and safeguarding best practices.
Supervise and support staff, providing leadership, guidance, and performance management to foster a positive team culture.
Assist in recruitment, resource allocation, and staff development to maintain high-quality service delivery at the service.
Contribute to staff training and wellbeing, supporting the organisation’s ethos of therapeutic, child-centred care.
Support resource management, including budgeting and maintaining a safe, secure, and clean environment.
About You:
Minimum two years’ successful experience within Residential Children’s Services, with at least middle management experience in a care setting.
Level 2 qualification in Maths/Numeracy and English/Literacy is essential.
EITHER Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) OR NVQ 4 Leadership and Management (or equivalent).
Valid UK driving licence.
Proficient in therapeutic support techniques, including physical intervention (training provided).
Experience working with local authorities and health services, with strong safeguarding knowledge compliant with Ofsted standards in Cardiff.
