Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with Fayat Lifting, a leading lifting and engineering specialist supporting the Hinkley Point C project, to recruit an Appointed Person / Mechanical Design Engineer for its Bridgwater, Somerset site.

Responsibilities and duties of the Appointed Person / Mechanical Design Engineer role
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will:
Produce detailed lifting plans using SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CAD software.
Act as a qualified CPCS Appointed Person, ensuring all lifting operations comply with LOLER, HPC lifting standards and site safety requirements.
Develop installation procedures, method statements and task-specific risk assessments.
Design temporary works to support lifting and installation activities.
Supervise the technical aspects of site works and brief lifting teams on approved lift plans.
Coordinate technical queries with NNB GenCo, Responsible Designers and client representatives.
Support quality documentation, including Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Maintain and update as-built documentation and engineering drawings.
Promote a strong nuclear safety culture across all lifting operations.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
CPCS A61 Appointed Person qualification (essential).
Proven experience producing lifting plans using CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
At least three years' experience within lifting operations and engineering design.
Experience within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated engineering environment.
Strong understanding of LOLER regulations, lifting standards and safe systems of work.
Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
