Design Interface Engineer (HVDC)

Location: Glasgow, with occasional site travel
Contract: 6 months initially
Rate: £700 per day via Umbrella PAYE

Turner Lovell is recruiting an experienced Design Interface Engineer to support major HVDC infrastructure programmes in Scotland. You will take ownership of design interfaces across complex, multi-contract projects valued between £700m and £2bn, coordinating HVDC, AC, civils and cable engineering packages to ensure seamless design integration and project delivery.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage multidisciplinary design interfaces, identifying and resolving technical gaps, conflicts and risks.
• Coordinate design information across contractors, consultants and internal engineering teams.
• Maintain the Design Interface Register, tracking progress, risks and key deliverables.
• Champion Safety in Design, CDM compliance and engineering quality.
• Drive improvements to interface management processes and project performance.

We are looking for:

• Strong multidisciplinary engineering experience on major energy or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing design interfaces across complex engineering packages.
• Good technical understanding of transmission infrastructure, CDM and relevant regulations.
• Engineering degree, ideally with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• HVDC experience is desirable but not essential.

The role is based in Glasgow, with monthly site visits (typically two days) to Peterhead or Lewis. A driving licence is required. This is an initial 6-month contract, with extension considered likely, paying £700 per day via Umbrella PAYE. BPSS clearance will be required
