Freelance Design Manager – Commercial Fit Out

We're working with a leading main contractor delivering a £40m high end commercial fit out in Central London. They need an experienced Freelance Design Manager to own the contractor design process through construction, keeping information flowing to programme and supporting site delivery.

Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, you'll manage design information between consultants, subcontractors and the site team.

What you'll be doing

- Managing design information flow between consultants, subcontractors and site.
- Ensuring design information hits the construction programme and procurement schedule.
- Coordinating specialist subcontractor design packages and tracking deliverables.
- Reviewing design proposals and value engineering options with the delivery team.
- Working closely with Site Managers to resolve design and buildability issues.
- Managing RFIs, technical queries and design changes through to approval.
- Supporting procurement and package teams to hit programme milestones.

Experience required

- 5+ years as a Design Manager for a main contractor or specialist fit out contractor.
- Proven delivery on commercial fit out, CAT A/CAT B, hospitality or high end interiors.
- Strong grasp of construction sequencing, procurement and package management.
- Experience managing subcontractor design packages during live construction.
