I'm working with a growing regional main contractor who are looking to appoint a Design Manager to support an increasing pipeline of work across London and the South East.
They're looking for someone who is hands-on, project-focused and enjoys driving design forward.
This isn't a role for someone who simply manages paperwork — they want someone who gets involved, challenges design and works closely with project teams from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
- Managing design from PCSA through to project completion
• Coordinating consultant teams and driving design programmes
• Working closely with operational, commercial and bid teams throughout delivery
• Managing planning, statutory approvals and technical information
• Identifying design risk and driving buildability solutions
• Office and project-based role across London and the South East
• Opportunity to lead your own projects or develop under an experienced Senior Design Manager
The Projects
- Public sector, education and heritage schemes
• New build residential developments
• Façade remediation and emerging fire remediation projects
• Typical project values between £5m–£20m, with larger schemes exceeding £30m
• Current flagship project includes a £20m two-stage theatre extension in Cambridge delivered via PCSA
What they're looking for
- Design Manager from a regional or main contractor background
• Experience across both pre-construction and live project delivery
• Hands-on approach with strong technical and buildability knowledge
• Comfortable managing consultant teams and driving design decisions
• Able to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Proactive, organised and collaborative
