Digital/Frontend Developer

The opportunity

• Role: Digital Developer (Frontend)
• Project: Public sector / government digital services
• Location: Exeter - typically 1-2 days per week on site
• Duration: Initial 6‑month contract
• Rate: Around £600/day (Umbrella)
• IR35: In scope
• Security: SC cleared or SC eligible (for a government agency)

What you'll be working on

• Developing responsive, accessible UIs using Next.js, React, TypeScript
• Collaborating with design and product teams to create intuitive, user‑centred experiences
• Building frontends that integrate with internal APIs and search indexes
• Taking part in code reviews, testing, debugging and continuous improvements
• Maintaining and enhancing existing applications, diagnosing and resolving issues
• Contributing to technical documentation and helping shape project requirements
• Implementing and working with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing

Tech stack & skills

• Strong experience as a Frontend Developer
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript plus React and Next.js
• Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch and SQL‑like databases
• Good understanding of Git and collaborative workflows
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and deployment strategies
• Comfortable working in an Agile, cross‑functional team

Nice to have

• Experience with PyGeoAPI or GIS‑related work
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
