Distribution Manager in Shenley Church End, Milton Keynes

Are you an experienced Distribution or Warehouse Manager who enjoys being close to the operation, leading people and improving performance?

We are recruiting for an experienced Distribution Manager to take responsibility for the performance and delivery of a busy distribution operation in Milton Keynes.

This is a key leadership position within an established operation and would suit someone who is comfortable managing at multiple levels, from associates and team leaders through to managers, while keeping a firm focus on service, people, productivity and continuous improvement.

The role

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the distribution operation, ensuring customer requirements are achieved while creating a positive, well-managed working environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, developing and motivating associates, team leaders and managers
• Monitoring operational performance and KPIs against customer and business requirements
• Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives
• Driving improvements across quality, productivity, waste and operational efficiency
• Analysing performance data and turning it into practical actions
• Managing labour and resource planning across the operation
• Overseeing training and Health & Safety standards
• Communicating performance, priorities and key information through regular team and management meetings
• Supporting recruitment requirements and managing agency labour
• Managing time-critical people processes including employee relations, payroll deadlines and recruitment SLAs
• Creating an open, accountable and positive culture across the operation

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an established operational leader with at least five years’ experience within a fast-paced distribution, warehouse or logistics environment.

You should have:

• Experience managing a sizeable, multi-level operation
• Strong people leadership skills, including managing team leaders/managers and operational employees
• Experience working with both permanent and agency workforces
• Strong knowledge of operational KPIs, performance metrics and data analysis
• A track record of improving operational performance and efficiency
• Experience with labour and resource planning
• Good knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems
• Confidence using Microsoft Office
• Experience supporting HR and employee relations processes
• A practical, visible leadership style and the ability to build engagement across a busy operation

Experience within high-volume distribution, 3PL, fulfilment, e-commerce, retail logistics or FMCG environments would be particularly relevant.
