Connect2Hackney are recruiting for an experienced Domestic Abuse Intervention Officer to join the Domestic Abuse Intervention Service within Hackney Council on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering Hackney's innovative and holistic domestic abuse intervention model, supporting victims of domestic abuse while working collaboratively with partners to reduce harm and improve outcomes across the borough.

The Role

As a Domestic Abuse Intervention Officer, you will manage a complex caseload, undertaking proactive interventions to reduce risk, safeguard victims, and promote long-term safety. You will work closely with victims, families, partner agencies and, where appropriate, perpetrators to deliver effective risk management and support plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of risk, need and vulnerability.
  • Developing and implementing intervention and safety plans for victims of domestic abuse.
  • Carrying out community and home visits, including assertive outreach to engage hard-to-reach individuals.
  • Working alongside police, criminal justice agencies and other partners to manage and reduce risk.
  • Participating in and chairing multi-agency case reviews and meetings.
  • Preparing high-quality written reports for courts, panels and partner agencies.
  • Advocating on behalf of victims and ensuring their rights, voices and needs are represented.
  • Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Delivering training and professional guidance on domestic abuse and gender-based violence.

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working with victims and/or perpetrators of domestic abuse, gender-based violence or safeguarding services.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment, risk management and safety planning.
  • Experience working with individuals facing complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse or homelessness.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with clients and partner agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience producing professional reports and case records.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and multi-agency working.

Essential Qualifications

  • IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) qualification, Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocate qualification, Social Work England recognised Social Work qualification (with SWE registration), or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
