Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a small, well-established, family-run business specialising in professional drainage services for high-end hotels, restaurants, theatres, offices and other commercial properties, with occasional residential drainage work.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Drainage Engineer to join their close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Drainage Engineer with a strong background in drainage, basic plumbing and reactive maintenance. The successful Drainage Engineer will work across Central London and surrounding areas, carrying out a variety of drainage jobs for commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Drainage Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Attend reactive drainage call-outs across London and surrounding areas.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on drainage systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve a wide range of drainage issues.

  • Unblock and descale drains and drainage systems.

  • Carry out CCTV drainage inspections and surveys.

  • Complete CCTV drainage reports and provide detailed findings.

  • Carry out high-pressure water jetting and mechanical drainage cleaning.

  • Complete pipe repairs and drainage pipe replacements.

  • Replace taps, manhole covers and other drainage-related components.

  • Identify faults within drainage systems and recommend suitable solutions.

  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship on every drainage job.

  • Complete detailed reports on drainage inspections and work carried out.

  • Use professional-grade drainage equipment, including CCTV cameras, jetting equipment and mechanical cleaners.

  • Communicate professionally with customers and site teams.

  • Take part in the Drainage Engineer on-call rota, approximately 1 week in every 2 weeks.

  • Support the wider drainage team with additional duties when required.

Drainage Engineer Requirements

The ideal Drainage Engineer will have:

Minimum 3 years' drainage experience.

Minimum 3 years' basic plumbing experience.

Full, clean UK driving licence – essential.

Previous experience working as a Drainage Engineer, Drainage Technician or Drainage Operative.

Experience carrying out reactive drainage work.

Experience with CCTV drain surveys and producing reports.

Experience with high-pressure water jetting and mechanical drainage cleaning.

Good understanding of drainage systems and basic plumbing.

Ability to diagnose and resolve drainage problems independently.

Groundworks or general maintenance experience would be advantageous.

CSCS, HPWJ, confined space or similar drainage-related qualifications are desirable.

Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Professional appearance and customer-focused approach.

Ability to work independently and represent the company professionally.

Flexibility to work different hours and participate in the drainage on-call rota.

Working Hours

There are no fixed working hours, although general Drainage Engineer working hours are typically:

7:00am–3:00pm

The Drainage Engineer will also participate in an on-call rota of approximately 1 week in every 2 weeks to support the company's 24/7 drainage service.
