Design & Technology Technician - Secondary School - Newham

As a Design & Technology Technician, you will support the DT department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and ensuring workshops are safe, organised and fully equipped for practical lessons. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide an outstanding learning environment for students.

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical Design & Technology lessons.
• Maintain workshops, machinery and specialist equipment to ensure they are safe and fully operational.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions where required.
• Monitor stock levels and order materials and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH requirements.
• Carry out routine maintenance and report equipment faults.
• Keep workshops clean, organised and ready for teaching.
• Support students with the safe use of tools and equipment during practical activities.

• Experience working in a Design & Technology workshop, engineering, manufacturing, construction or school environment.
• Good practical skills and confidence using a range of tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to support both staff and students in a busy department.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
