Are you an experienced DT Technician with a passion for supporting practical learning? Do you enjoy working in a school environment and helping students develop their practical and creative skills? We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic DT Technician to support a secondary school on the Wirral, with an immediate opportunity available.
About the Role:
We are seeking a DT Technician to work closely with the Design & Technology department, supporting teachers and students across practical lessons. You'll be responsible for preparing materials and equipment, maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment, and providing practical assistance during lessons. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Design & Technology, engineering, construction, or a related practical subject.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare materials, tools, equipment, and resources for practical DT lessons
* Support teachers and students during practical activities and workshops
* Maintain and organise workshops, classrooms, tools, and equipment
* Ensure equipment is used safely and report any faults or maintenance requirements
* Assist with stock control and ordering materials where required
* Support the smooth running of the DT department and contribute to a safe learning environment
What We're Looking For:
* Experience working within a DT, engineering, construction, or practical workshop environment
* Strong practical and organisational skills
* A good understanding of workshop and equipment safety
* Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and support students
* A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach
* A genuine interest in supporting young people and practical education
* A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable (but not essential):
* Previous experience working within a school or education setting
* Knowledge of GCSE Design & Technology requirements
* Experience using a range of workshop tools, machinery, or practical equipment
