Duty Manager – Distribution Centre

£32,500 per annum (£15.63 per hour)

Monday to Friday | 40 Hours per Week | 5:00am Start

Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting for an experienced Duty Manager to join a busy Regional Distribution Centre in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced people manager with a background in transport, distribution or logistics who is passionate about leading teams, maintaining high operational standards and delivering outstanding customer service.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the Distribution Centre, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time. You will lead and motivate the operational team while maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company procedures.

This is a hands-on management role and will occasionally require you to cover delivery routes during periods of annual leave, sickness or increased workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operation of the Regional Distribution Centre.
  • Lead, motivate and develop warehouse and driving teams.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and communicate operational updates.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained, roadworthy and compliant with legal requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with drivers' hours regulations, tachograph legislation and Working Time Directive requirements.
  • Ensure drivers are fully trained on operational procedures, vehicle checks, quality standards and security processes.
  • Provide route cover when required due to holidays, sickness or operational demand.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high levels of operational performance.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed.

Candidate Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Previous experience in a transport, logistics or distribution management role.
  • Good understanding of drivers' hours regulations, tachographs and transport compliance.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Professional approach with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexible attitude with the ability to support operational requirements.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a DBS check.
