An experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer is required for a high-profile industrial project based in Sweden. This is a long-term, site-based position on the delivery of a brand-new steel manufacturing facility, offering the chance to play a key technical leadership role within a major international development.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a strong background in heavy industry or oil and gas, who are confident managing complex E&I systems in construction environments. You’ll be joining a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team responsible for executing critical engineering scopes from design through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver complete E&I engineering design packages including wiring diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, grounding layouts, and panel designs
- Perform detailed load assessments, power distribution layouts, and cable tray routing
- Lead instrumentation specification, procurement support, and technical compliance reviews
- Prepare hazardous area classification drawings and ensure adherence to international electrical codes
- Support installation, FAT/SAT, and on-site troubleshooting throughout project execution
- Liaise with vendors, site contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth coordination and delivery
- Work closely with site teams to align designs with construction and commissioning requirements
- Contribute to QA/QC checks, equipment inspections, and performance testing
- Review and generate deliverables from P&IDs and support electrical input for multidisciplinary coordination
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering
- 5–10+ years’ experience in E&I roles on large-scale industrial or oil and gas projects
- Solid understanding of low-voltage distribution, hazardous area design, and instrumentation systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN is a plus
- Familiar with major automation platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, or Rockwell RSLogix
- In-depth knowledge of CEC, NFPA70, IEEE, and ISA standards
- Ability to lead engineering scopes independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Willingness to be based on-site in Sweden for the duration of the project
