🧩 About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence and reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD and PMLD.

• Supporting classroom learning, communication, sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.

• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams to meet individual learning needs.

• Encouraging pupils to develop their social skills, confidence and independence.

• Implementing positive behaviour support strategies and responding calmly to challenging situations.

• Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to thrive.

✅ What We're Looking For

We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with previous hands-on experience supporting children or young people with SEND who can confidently adapt to the needs of different pupils and settings.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Proven experience working with SEND pupils in a school, specialist provision, care setting or similar environment.

• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach, with the ability to build positive relationships.

• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work as part of a wider team.

• Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, SEMH or behaviours that challenge (particularly desirable).

• Relevant qualifications or training, such as CACHE, Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach or Makaton (desirable).

• A willingness to support with personal care where required by the role.

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Stafflex Education.
