Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
The Opportunity
An established engineering and manufacturing business based in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. The company designs and manufactures bespoke industrial process equipment for customers across a range of sectors, delivering complex engineering projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys working on bespoke machinery and industrial systems, with involvement throughout the full project lifecycle.
The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for bespoke industrial equipment. Working closely with mechanical design, controls and project teams, you will create electrical schematics and technical drawings using AutoCAD while ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and design drawings using AutoCAD
- Designing electrical systems for bespoke machinery and industrial equipment
- Creating control panel layouts and electrical documentation
- Producing bills of materials (BOMs) and technical specifications
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant electrical regulations and standards
- Liaising with mechanical, controls and manufacturing teams throughout projects
- Supporting installation, commissioning and troubleshooting activities when required
- Assisting with project delivery from concept through to completion
- Reviewing and improving existing electrical designs and systems
About You
- Experience in an Electrical Design Engineer position
- Strong AutoCAD experience for electrical design and drafting
- Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, process equipment or special purpose machinery
- Understanding of electrical control panels, power distribution and instrumentation
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations
- Ability to produce accurate technical documentation and drawings
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Desirable
- Experience working with PLC-controlled systems
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
- Experience supporting commissioning and site-based activities
