Rate: £70.00 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract Outlook: Strong likelihood of extension / ongoing work
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior High Voltage Electrical Engineer to support the engineering capability of a major defence infrastructure programme based at Faslane, Clyde.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regulated engineering environment where you will provide technical expertise across the design, assessment and ongoing support of critical electrical infrastructure. Candidates with backgrounds in High Voltage Electrical Design, Installation or Maintenance are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, review and assess electrical engineering design packages for infrastructure projects.
- Develop specifications relating to the reliability and operational constraints of electrical infrastructure.
- Review maintenance work control procedures and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Assess infrastructure design, material condition, qualification and ageing mechanisms to support the continued safe operation of facilities and utilities.
- Deliver practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions for plant and infrastructure modifications.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety and security culture throughout all engineering activities.
- Act as an intelligent customer, ensuring engineering outputs meet contractual, technical and safety requirements.

- Substations and switching arrangements
- Protection and control systems
- Diesel alternators
- Earthing and bonding systems
- Experience working within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated or high-hazard environment (desirable but not essential).
- The ability to develop practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- A sound understanding of British and international electrical engineering standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make evidence-based engineering decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- HNC (or equivalent qualification and experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Detailed understanding of electrical infrastructure design principles within the nuclear industry or a comparable highly regulated sector.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent professional experience.
- £70.00 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
- 12-month initial contract
- 40 hours per week
- Hybrid working – typically 1–2 days per week onsite at Faslane, with the remainder working remotely.
- Strong potential for contract extension, with work expected to continue beyond the initial term.
