An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer (Low Voltage) to join a high-profile engineering programme. The role will focus on the specification, design, procurement, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems, supporting the delivery of a complex engineering project within a highly regulated environment.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide electrical engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring LV systems are designed, procured, installed, and commissioned safely and in compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Low Voltage Electrical Engineering scope across a major capital equipment project.
- Develop and review electrical specifications, load schedules, cable schedules, equipment datasheets, and procurement packages.
- Provide technical input into the selection, specification, procurement, and integration of LV electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Support the design and review of electrical distribution systems, switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), transformers, UPS systems, and power infrastructure.
- Support supplier engagement, tender evaluations, technical assessments, and design reviews.
- Provide electrical engineering input throughout design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
- Collaborate with mechanical, control & instrumentation, systems, safety, and project engineering teams within a highly regulated environment.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve engineering documentation including single line diagrams, cable schedules, protection studies, load flow assessments, installation specifications, and commissioning documentation.
- Support equipment integration, system energisation, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Assist in resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning phases while ensuring compliance with project requirements.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer delivering LV power systems within a regulated engineering environment.
- Background in Nuclear, Defence, Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Utilities, Water, Rail, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience supporting the specification, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, or integration of Low Voltage electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of LV electrical distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS systems, power supplies, and associated infrastructure.
- Experience producing and reviewing electrical engineering documentation including single line diagrams, equipment specifications, cable schedules, load assessments, and commissioning procedures.
- Good understanding of electrical design standards and regulations, including BS 7671, IEC standards, and electrical safety requirements.
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary project delivery, engineering assurance, and design review processes.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution or working towards Chartership is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with occasional site travel.
- Candidates should be able to meet any applicable security vetting requirements associated with the role.
