If you've built your career as an electrician, electrical installer, supervisor, engineer or in another hands-on electrical role, this could be an opportunity to take your industry experience into further education and help train the next generation.

The college is particularly interested in people who can bring strong, practical electrical knowledge into the classroom and workshop. Teaching and assessing qualifications are welcomed, but candidates who do not yet hold them can still be considered if they are willing to work towards the relevant qualifications.

The role

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that combine technical knowledge with industry practice
  • Completing the organisation and administration associated with your courses
  • Monitoring learner attendance, progress and achievement
  • Providing effective guidance and support to students
  • Contributing to curriculum development and ensuring programmes continue to reflect changing industry requirements
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning

What do you need?
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in Electrical Installation or a closely related discipline
  • Strong and current electrical industry knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to explain technical information clearly and engage learners with different levels of experience
  • A teaching qualification such as a Certificate in Education or Diploma in Teaching and Learning, or a willingness to work towards one
  • An assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA or A1 would be advantageous, although candidates willing to work towards one are also encouraged to apply
