The Company:

An established, high-tech manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Equipment Technician to strengthen its engineering team.

Operating within a specialist semiconductor manufacturing environment, the company uses state-of-the-art, multi-million-pound equipment and places a strong emphasis on reliability, continuous improvement and technical development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Equipment Technician who enjoys technically challenging fault finding and wants to develop their skills across electrical, electronic, mechanical and control systems.

Working Hours: Day Shift - 4 Day Working week (12hr shifts)

Full-time, permanent position.
Flexibility to work additional hours in line with business requirements may be required.

Job Description:

As an Equipment Technician, you will work as part of a multi-skilled engineering team responsible for maximising equipment availability, reliability and manufacturing performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Responding to breakdowns and returning equipment to production efficiently.
  • Electrical, electronic and mechanical fault finding.
  • Identifying and implementing equipment improvements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Working alongside Process Engineering to resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Supporting major fault investigations and structured problem-solving activities.
  • Liaising with equipment manufacturers and vendors during complex breakdowns.
  • Supporting and training fellow technicians and apprentices.
  • Contributing towards engineering KPIs and equipment reliability targets.

Skills & Experience:

The successful Equipment Technician will ideally have:

  • A time-served engineering apprenticeship.
  • Minimum ONC qualification within a relevant engineering discipline.
  • At least three years' post-apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience within a high-volume manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong electrical, electronic and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Understanding of software-based or PLC control techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-skilled team.

An HNC within Electrical, Electronics, Controls & Instrumentation or Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous.
