The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical Bias) to join a leading Facilities Management provider on a prestigious contract at an Art Gallery in Central London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Services Engineer with either a strong electrical or mechanical bias to join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining a high-profile London portfolio.

You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and operational performance of essential building services, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a 24/7 shift environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across electrical and mechanical building services.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests, breakdowns, emergencies and call-outs, ensuring issues are resolved with minimum delay.
  • Diagnose and repair faults across electrical systems and associated building services.
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs to lighting, power and electrical distribution systems.
  • Undertake electrical fault diagnosis associated with PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Repair electrical systems and controls associated with heating and ventilation building services.
  • Operate, maintain and monitor building services plant to ensure optimum performance.
  • Respond to and resolve public health system issues.
  • Complete site logs, maintenance records and reports using relevant CAFM/reporting systems.
  • Manage and comply with Permits to Work and safe systems of work.
  • Assist with subcontractor management and coordinate specialist contractors where required.
  • Support minor projects and provide event support.
  • Assist other trades where required and provide cover for colleagues during holidays or sickness.
  • Work independently and use own initiative while operating as part of a 24/7 shift engineering team.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
  • Meet and exceed agreed SLA and service delivery objectives.
About You Essential
  • Relevant qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Post-qualification experience within building services maintenance.
  • Strong experience within commercial facilities maintenance or a similar environment.
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, risk management and safe systems of work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexible approach to working across a 24/7 shift pattern.
Desirable
  • Electrical bias with experience of lighting, distribution systems and electrical controls.
  • Mechanical experience across heating, ventilation, pumps and associated plant.
  • Experience working with HVAC/building services systems.
  • Experience with Permits to Work and subcontractor management.
  • CAFM systems experience.
  • Previous experience working within a high-profile commercial, public or critical environment.
