We are seeking skilled and experienced Electricians to join a major defence shipbuilding programme in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile naval project, playing a vital role in the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems aboard complex vessels.
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation work to the highest standards of quality and safety, ensuring all work is completed in line with engineering drawings and project specifications.
What you'll be doing:
- Installing a wide range of electrical systems and equipment onboard vessels.
- Routing, terminating and connecting electrical cables in accordance with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Installing containment systems including cable trays, brackets and supports.
- Carrying out electrical testing, fault finding and rectification where required.
- Installing and connecting electrical components such as lighting, switchboards, distribution panels, motors and control equipment.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and installation drawings.
- Working closely with other trades to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to schedule.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship while adhering to all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
- Completing all required documentation accurately.
Your skills and experience:
Essential:
- Modern Apprenticeship certificate/Trade Papers (must be provided with your application).
- Relevant qualifications such as SVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Previous experience as an Electrician within heavy engineering, manufacturing, marine, defence, industrial or commercial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience installing, terminating and testing electrical systems.
- Good understanding of SHE, COSHH and Risk Assessments.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Requirements: Trade Papers must be provided when submitting your application.
Desirable:
- Marine or shipbuilding electrical experience.
- Experience working within the defence sector.
- Knowledge of commissioning and electrical testing.
- Experience working to marine or industrial electrical standards.
Overtime Pay:
- Monday - Thursday: Time and a Third (1.33x)
- Friday: Time and a Half for the first 4 hours, Double Time thereafter.
- Saturday: Time and a Half.
- Sunday: Double Time.
Shift Patterns:
Day Shift (Flat Rate)
- Monday - Thursday
- 07:00 - 16:30
Night Shift (+33% Shift Allowance)
- Monday - Thursday
- 20:30 - 06:00
Weekend Shift (+33% Shift Allowance)
- Friday - Sunday
- 07:00 - 19:30
