Electrician – Permanent Position

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Electrician to join an established organisation delivering electrical maintenance, repairs and improvement works across a portfolio of residential and community properties in South Wales.

This is a genuinely varied role, offering the opportunity to work across a mixture of domestic and commercial environments, carrying out everything from reactive repairs and fault finding through to installations, testing and planned maintenance.

The role

As an Electrician, you’ll be responsible for carrying out electrical works safely, efficiently and to a high standard, often working independently while also collaborating with a wider multi-trade maintenance team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical maintenance, repairs and installation works

  • Full and partial rewires, including work with conduit and trunking

  • Installation of new circuits and associated testing

  • Inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations

  • Fault finding and repairs across a range of electrical systems

  • Testing and maintenance of fire alarms, smoke alarms and emergency lighting

  • Installation, maintenance and fault finding on heating controls and door entry systems

  • Completing planned and cyclical maintenance works

  • Accurately recording works, materials and time

  • Ensuring all work complies with current electrical regulations and health & safety requirements

  • Providing a professional and customer-focused service when working in residents' homes

  • Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota

There will also be opportunities to support and mentor apprentices and less experienced members of the team.

What I'm looking for

I'm keen to speak with Electricians who have a solid background in electrical maintenance and installation, with particular experience in inspection and testing.

You'll ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in an electrical/electrotechnical discipline, or equivalent

  • Completed an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

  • 2391, 2394/2395 or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification

  • AM2 or equivalent occupational competence

  • Experience carrying out electrical testing, inspection and certification

  • A full UK driving licence

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

A practical, flexible approach is important, as is the ability to work to deadlines while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

What's on offer?

  • £39,428.70 salary

  • Mobile role across South Wales

  • Company works vehicle

  • Enhanced pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 12%

  • 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays, increasing with service

  • Flexible benefits package

  • Health and wellbeing initiatives

  • Opportunities for development and progression

This is a good opportunity for an Electrician looking to move into a stable, long-term position where you're able to use your technical skills while making a tangible difference to the communities you work in.
