Employee Relations Advisor (Temporary) – Leeds

Thorn Baker are working in collaboration with one of the UK's leading soft facilities management providers, delivering professional cleaning services to businesses nationwide.

Our client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join their team in Leeds on a temporary basis for approximately 3–6 months. Due to the immediate business need, candidates should be available to start as soon as possible.

As the Employee Relations Advisor, you will provide expert advice and guidance across the business on all employee relations matters, supporting managers with complex casework while driving best practice and continuous improvement across HR processes.

This is a fully office-based role located in Leeds, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR and employee relations queries across the business.

  • Provide advice and coaching to managers on all aspects of people management.

  • Support TUPE processes alongside HR Business Partners, recruitment, and operational teams.

  • Manage and support a range of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, redundancy, and workplace disputes.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, systems, and working practices.

  • Review and update HR policies and procedures in collaboration with the wider HR team.

  • Support organisational objectives by promoting effective people management practices.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and update the HR information system (HRIS).

  • Promote and embed a positive workplace culture.

  • Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role.

About You

We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar Employee Relations or HR Advisory role, managing a varied employee relations caseload.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a practical approach to resolving complex issues.

  • A high level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.

  • A collaborative, team-focused approach.

  • A degree in HR or a related discipline is desirable, with a CIPD qualification (or working towards one) considered advantageous.
