Employee Relations Manager

12-month contract | Retford | Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite

Our client is looking for an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join their team on a 12-month contract, supporting employee relations activity within a complex and evolving organisation.

This is a senior ER role, providing expert advice and guidance to managers and senior leaders across a range of complex and high-risk employee relations matters. You will play an important role in supporting positive workplace culture, organisational change and effective employee relations practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex and high-risk employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance and workplace conflict matters.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to managers and senior leaders on employee relations, employment law and best practice.
  • Work constructively with trade unions and other employee representatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Support organisational growth, transformation, change programmes and workforce restructuring initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of employee relations policies, processes and frameworks.
  • Conduct investigations and provide practical, commercially focused solutions to employee relations issues.
  • Analyse people data and employee relations trends to identify insights and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support wider HR projects and initiatives as required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations professional who can operate confidently within a complex organisation and provide credible advice to senior stakeholders.

Essential:

  • CIPD Level 7 qualified, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in employee relations within a complex organisation.
  • Strong experience managing high-risk and complex ER cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience working with trade unions.
  • Proven experience coaching, influencing and advising senior leaders and managers.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting organisational growth, transformation, change or workforce restructuring.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn people data and insights into practical solutions.

Desirable:

  • Experience within major infrastructure, engineering, energy, nuclear, construction, manufacturing, aerospace or defence environments.
  • Experience within the public sector, government-sponsored organisations, joint ventures or multi-organisational programme environments.
  • Experience designing and implementing ER frameworks within a growing or newly established organisation.
  • Mediation or workplace conflict resolution qualifications.
  • Experience working within security-cleared environments.
