Employee Relations Specialist

Your new role
Reporting into the HR team, you will provide specialist employee relations support across a range of complex casework and people initiatives, with responsibilities including:

  • Managing a varied caseload of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases
  • Conducting investigations into workplace concerns and preparing detailed case documentation and recommendations
  • Providing employee relations advice and guidance to managers in line with company policies and UK employment legislation
  • Supporting formal hearings and meetings, ensuring a fair, consistent and compliant approach
  • Acting as a key escalation point for complex employee relations queries
  • Advising on reasonable adjustments and coordinating occupational health referrals where required
  • Supporting mediation and informal resolution of workplace conflicts
  • Monitoring employee relations trends and producing insights to support proactive people initiatives
  • Assisting with the review, development and communication of HR policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate employee relations records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes
  • Supporting employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives across the business
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across HR and the wider organisation


What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in an Employee Relations Advisor, ER Specialist or HR Advisor role with a strong employee relations focus
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice
  • Experience managing complex employee relations cases from investigation through to resolution
  • Excellent advisory, coaching and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong investigation, problem-solving and report-writing capabilities
  • Experience working within a large, complex or regulated environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records
  • Exposure to employee relations reporting, data analysis and trend monitoring would be advantageous
  • Previous experience within financial services, professional services or another regulated environment would be beneficial
