Wiltshire Council is looking for an experienced Employer Funding & Risk Lead to join the highly respected Wiltshire Pension Fund, one of the largest and strongest funded Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds in the UK.
Managing assets of almost £4 billion and supporting more than 170 participating employers, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in protecting the long-term sustainability of the Pension Fund while helping thousands of members secure their future retirement benefits.
This is a senior specialist position offering the opportunity to influence funding strategy, employer risk management and pension policy across a diverse portfolio of employers.
About the Role
As the Employer Funding & Risk Lead, you will become the Council's subject matter expert for employer funding, actuarial matters and pension risk management.
Working closely with senior leaders, employers, actuaries and external advisers, you will provide strategic advice on employer funding, covenant strength, admissions, exits, reorganisations, mergers and TUPE transfers.
This is a varied and influential role where your expertise will directly support the long-term financial health and governance of the Wiltshire Pension Fund.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on employer funding and covenant risk across the Wiltshire Pension Fund.

Manage complex employer admissions, exits, mergers, reorganisations and TUPE pension matters.

Work alongside the Fund Actuary during the triennial actuarial valuation process.

Provide expert advice on funding strategies, employer affordability and pension liabilities.

Monitor employer financial strength and identify emerging funding or covenant risks.

Develop funding solutions that protect both employers and the Pension Fund.

Build strong relationships with over 170 scheme employers and key stakeholders.

Produce high-quality reports and present complex information to senior management, committees and employers.

Support the development of funding strategies, policies and governance arrangements.

Ensure compliance with LGPS Regulations and wider pension legislation.

Contribute to continuous service improvement and the ongoing development of the Pension Fund.
About You
We're looking for an experienced pensions, funding or financial risk professional who can confidently manage complex funding issues and provide trusted strategic advice.
You will ideally have experience in:
