Due to an increase in workload and continued company growth, my client, a leading engineering company in Dudley, are looking to recruit a Junior Administrator / Expeditor to join their existing team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual looking to develop their career within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment, with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across project coordination, purchasing, supplier management and customer liaison.

Working closely with the manufacturing team, you will play an important role in ensuring projects and customer orders progress smoothly and remain on schedule. You will act as a key link between suppliers, subcontractors, transport providers, customers and internal departments.

The role would suit an experienced Administrator looking to progress into a more project-focused position, or a Junior Project Engineer / Engineering graduate looking to develop their commercial and project management experience.

Candidates will ideally have some previous experience within an Engineering / Manufacturing environment, although applicants with strong administration, coordination and communication skills who are keen to develop their career will also be considered.

Salary – £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience

Role Description

  • Process and manage purchase orders (POs)
  • Arrange subcontract work and coordinate with subcontract suppliers
  • Organise transportation requirements and monitor delivery schedules
  • Expedite suppliers to ensure materials, components and services are delivered on time
  • Regularly communicate with suppliers to obtain progress updates and resolve any delays
  • Monitor project and order progress against agreed timescales
  • Liaise with customers and provide regular updates on order and project status
  • Work closely with the internal Project and Engineering teams to ensure key deadlines are achieved
  • Maintain accurate project and order records and update internal ERP systems
  • Identify potential issues or delays and proactively communicate these to the relevant teams
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of projects from order through to completion
  • Build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Support the wider project team with general project coordination and administration

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous experience within an administration, coordination or expediting role
  • Experience within an Engineering / Manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Purchasing, subcontract or supplier management experience would be beneficial
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident dealing with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify and resolve issues
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
  • Good IT skills with experience using ERP systems advantageous
  • Engineering or technical background would be beneficial
