Are you an Engineer ( Electrical / Mechanical ) working in the Manufacturing sector and looking for a new role or step up in to a more senior position, if so this could be for you.
Thrive SW are working with a leading Manufacturing business looking to recruit a Lead Engineer for their busy site in Gloucester, previous experience within a Manufacturing site is essential but not essentially from the food industry.
As Engineering Lead for this site you will be responsible for:
- Leading and inspiring the engineering team.
- Developing and managing the engineering strategy.
- Ensuring the company assets are well maintained and serviced to ensure minimum downtime.
- Ensure the company meets its legal compliance for engineering standards.
- Project management of capex projects.
Key Relationships:
- Site Manager and Engineering team.
- Directors and colleagues.
- Company suppliers and customers.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and direct leadership of the engineering team.
- Write and implement an Engineering strategy.
- Improving Key engineering KPI's - Breakdowns, job completion and expenditure.
- Schedule and control spend against agreed budgets.
- Ensure thorough site PPM program is in place, working towards the continuous improvement of this.
- Ensure that Limble is used to support and record all engineering activity on site.
- Ensure there are site duty holders for :- LOLER, Electrical Duty Holder, Legionella Control, Asbestos Management Control, Change Management Control, Software Control, Pressure Systems, PHE, Calibration, AHU, Refrigeration Plant, Boiler and Steam System, Metal Detection and X-ray, Product Valves, DSEAR and any others as required.
- Ensure engineering site stores is managed effectively.
- Ensure Services are reliable, fit for purpose and cope with future manufacturing growth targets.
- Prepare and agree contracts with external contractors.
- Determine site capital strategy - upgrades and renewal.
- Ensure reactive maintenance meets agreed standards.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent food and drink engineering knowledge.
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
- Able to drive continuous improvement and promote a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business.
- Good communicator and team player.
- Well organized and able to hit deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including Excel.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and speed.
- Flexibility as and when required.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous experience of working in the Food and Drinks industry is essential
- At least 5 years' experience of managing an engineering team and department.
- Ideally degree level educated.
- Excellent understanding of UK food manufacturing technical and legislative requirements.
- Experience of managing engineering legal compliance.
- Experience of working to BRC Global Standards.
- Dairy industry experience, particularly cheese making, would be advantageous but not essential.
