Engineering Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
As Engineering Manager, you will lead and coordinate construction engineering activities across major work packages, ensuring engineering solutions support safe, high-quality and programme-driven delivery.
You'll work closely with pre-construction teams, client representatives, technical specialists and supply chain partners to:
- Lead engineering delivery across methods, temporary works, permanent works, quality, materials, survey and digital engineering.
- Drive a "Right First Time" culture focused on safety, quality and programme performance.
- Manage technical interfaces and develop practical engineering solutions for complex site challenges.
- Oversee temporary works, setting out, surveying, quality management and materials assurance.
- Lead engineering teams and establish the resources, capability and processes needed for successful project delivery.
- Embed digital engineering and BIM technologies to improve construction delivery.
- Ensure compliance within a highly regulated nuclear construction environment.
What are we looking for?
Essential Criteria- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Strong civil engineering and construction experience, including delivery of major infrastructure or complex civil engineering projects
- Experience managing Temporary Works and HSQE requirements
- Good understanding of earthworks, including geology, materials and construction methods
- Ability to interpret detailed design drawings, technical specifications and quality requirements
- Demonstrable project management skills, including planning and scope management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Digital engineering capability, including experience using BIM tools and processes
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions
- CSCS Card holder
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership)
- SMSTS or equivalent
- Temporary Works Management training
- Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of marine structures, deep foundations or construction surveying
- Experience managing groundwater and surface water within earthworks projects.
