An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven Engineering Project Manager to join a rapidly growing manufacturing business at their site in Staffordshire. Following significant recent investment, the company is entering a transformative phase of growth, making this a pivotal time to join the team.
Operating on a Monday to Friday schedule, this fully on-site role allows you to be at the heart of operations, directly influencing site performance and engineering strategy. You will take complete ownership of the project life cycle, identifying areas for improvement, building business cases and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable gains. To be considered for this position, a strong background with proven experience in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or the FMCG sector is a must.
Role and Responsibilities of this Engineering Project Manager role:
- Lead engineering, capital and continuous improvement projects from initial concept through to final implementation.
- Identify key opportunities to improve plant performance, equipment reliability and overall manufacturing capability.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes, business cases, capital budgets, timelines and execution plans.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain, as well as managing external contractors.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to challenge existing processes and implement smarter, more efficient engineering solutions.
- Manage the full commissioning life cycle, ensuring seamless installation, handover and post-project benefits realisation.
- Establish future pipeline of engineering and operational improvement opportunities to sustain long-term business growth.
Experience and Qualifications required for this Engineering Project Manager role:
- Hold relevant Engineering Qualifications (e.g., Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent technical apprenticeship).
- Demonstrated experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or pharmaceutical environments.
- Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve production flows.
- Previous experience in Root Cause Analysis and structured, practical problem-solving.
- A recognised Project Management qualification (such as PRINCE2 or APM) is highly advantageous.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and confidently challenge the status quo.
- Prior experience managing CAPEX budgets and delivering engineering modifications safely and on time.
