The Opportunity
Due to increased demand for a major UK defence infrastructure programme, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Technical Author to support the development and assurance of critical engineering documentation. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce clear, accurate and compliant technical documentation that supports the safe operation, maintenance and ongoing development of complex engineering assets.
This role offers the chance to contribute to nationally important programmes, work alongside subject matter experts, and develop your experience within a safely critical engineering environment.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Develop, maintain and assure high-quality technical documentation supporting engineering design, operation, maintenance and safety activities.
- Translate complex engineering information into clear, concise and compliant documentation for a variety of stakeholders.
- Support the development, maintenance and management of document templates, authoring standards and guidance documentation.
- Work closely with engineering, design, project and safety teams to gather, validate and organise technical information.
- Ensure documentation complies with established quality, configuration control and version management processes.
- Review and update existing technical documentation to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Promote and demonstrate a strong safety and security culture in all aspects of work.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to technical documentation and information management.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience of technical authoring within an engineering environment.
- Experience producing technical documentation within defence, manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, nuclear or other regulated sectors.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical data.
- Strong written communication and document presentation skills.
- Experience working with document management systems and version control processes.
- Knowledge of structured authoring principles and technical documentation standards.
It’s great if you also have the following
- Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent professional standing.
- Experience working within safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of engineering governance, assurance and compliance processes.
- Experience developing document templates, standards and authoring guidance.
- Understanding of configuration management principles.
The setting for the role
Remote arrangements may be available subject to business requirements and security restrictions.
12-month contract opportunity.
Security Clearance (SC) will be required for this position.
