Veritas Education is working with a highly regarded and oversubscribed co-educational secondary school in Twickenham to recruit an enthusiastic Graduate English Teaching Assistant.

The role is particularly well suited to graduates considering a future career in English teaching, educational psychology, SEN, or pastoral care.
Working across Key Stages 3 and 4, you will support students in developing their literacy, reading comprehension, written communication, and confidence in English.
About the Role
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the English Department and SEN team to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, engage with the curriculum, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group intervention support in English
- Support students with reading, writing, and literacy development across KS3 and KS4
- Assist teachers during English lessons and help deliver engaging learning activities
- Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs within the classroom
- Help monitor student progress and contribute to feedback and assessment activities
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning
- Assist with literacy initiatives, reading programmes, and extracurricular activities where appropriate
What We're Looking For
- A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, or a related subject
- Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
- A genuine passion for English and education
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
