About the Role
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons that develop students' skills in reading, writing, and critical analysis. You will support learners in exploring a wide range of texts, from classical literature to modern writing, while strengthening their academic writing and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons
- Teach a range of texts including prose, poetry, and drama
- Develop students' reading comprehension, writing accuracy, and analytical skills
- Support GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature (where applicable)
- Assess, track, and report on student progress
- Encourage a love of reading and creative writing
- Contribute to curriculum planning and enrichment activities such as book clubs or literacy initiatives
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in English, English Literature, or related subject
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for literature and language
- Ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Willingness to contribute to wider school life and literacy development
