An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estates Officer (Fire) to join a leading facilities and building services team supporting a major acute healthcare site in Nottinghamshire. The organisation is responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure and delivering safe, compliant, and effective building services that support the delivery of healthcare services to patients and staff.This role offers the opportunity to work within a complex healthcare environment, helping ensure essential fire safety systems remain operational, compliant, and fit for purpose across the estate.Your new role
As an Estates Officer (Fire), you will act as the lead specialist for fire safety systems across the site, ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, testing, and compliance of fire-related systems and equipment.You will work closely with operational teams, specialist contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver statutory compliance, manage risk, and support the safe operation of the estate.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the fire systems lead and providing technical guidance on fire safety matters.
  • Managing fire alarm systems and associated equipment, including cause and effect testing.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, healthcare guidance, and industry standards.
  • Managing allocated budgets relating to fire safety systems and improvement projects.
  • Undertaking fire risk assessments and maintaining associated tracking and assurance documentation.
  • Developing and implementing lifecycle plans for fire systems across the estate.
  • Supporting energy and compliance reporting requirements where applicable.
  • Managing contractors and specialist subcontractors to ensure safe and effective delivery of works.
  • Undertaking Authorised Person responsibilities following relevant training and accreditation.
  • Supporting emergency response requirements through participation in the on-call rota.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health, safety, and continuous improvement across the estate.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with fire alarm systems and fire safety compliance.
  • A recognised Fire Safety qualification or certification.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or above in an Electrical discipline.
  • HV/LV Authorised Person status or a willingness to work towards accreditation.
  • Experience working within hospital, healthcare, or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), particularly HTM 05 and HTM 06.
  • Understanding of Health Building Notes (HBNs), British Standards, and fire safety legislation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of compliance and service delivery.
