On offer is the opportunity to join a growing electrical compliance and property services contractor operating across social housing and public sector frameworks. This is the first Estimator the business is hiring, so you will take real ownership of preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical compliance projects. You will be given the autonomy to work in the style that suits you best and have opportunity to build an Estimating function team in the future.

This company operates across social housing, delivering essential services including electrical compliance, maintenance and upgrade works for housing associations and local authorities. This Estimator role requires someone who can challenge assumptions, make commercial decisions, engage with internal stakeholders and supply chain partners throughout the tender process. The successful candidate will act as the commercial lead during bid preparation, ensuring all pricing reflects both project risk and the companies business objectives.

Your Duties

• Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates across electrical compliance programmes including EICRs, remedial works, emergency lighting, smoke alarm installations, planned and reactive maintenance, kitchen and bathroom programmes and social housing frameworks
• Quantify labour, materials, plant, subcontractor and overhead costs, obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations to develop detailed pricing schedules, cost models and tender summaries
• Collaborate with Bid Writers and Operational Managers to produce compliant, commercially robust tender submissions, identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost efficiencies
• Assess commercial and contractual risks, review contract terms and ensure all submissions achieve required profit margins and business objectives
• Build strong relationships with internal departments and supply chain partners, liaising with Contract Managers and operational teams to validate assumptions and resource requirements
• Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries and historical pricing records, monitoring market rates and continuously improving estimating tools, templates and processes

Experience Required

• Experience as an Estimator, Bid Estimator, or Commercial role within the electrical, compliance, construction, or building planned or reactive sectors
• Experience preparing cost estimates and tender submissions
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
