The Role As the Estimator, you'll:
- Produce accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects, supporting successful tender submissions.
- Analyse tender documentation including drawings, specifications and schedules to identify project requirements, risks and opportunities.
- Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value.
- Collaborate with operational, commercial and design teams to ensure estimates reflect technical requirements and project programmes.
- Advise on project cost risks, contingencies and value engineering opportunities to maximise commercial success.
- Support post-tender negotiations and ensure a smooth handover of estimating information to delivery teams.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries and benchmarking tools to improve consistency and accuracy.
- Participate in tender review meetings and present pricing strategies to senior stakeholders.
- A relevant construction qualification such as an HNC, HND, degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in an Estimator role within the construction or built environment sector.
- Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- A sound understanding of construction methods, materials and associated project costs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Membership of, or working towards, a professional body such as RICS, CIOB or ICES.
- Experience across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, refurbishment, repairs, maintenance, voids and asset management projects.
- Knowledge of BIM, digital take-off software and modern estimating technologies.
- Experience supporting public sector tenders and framework agreements.
- Understanding of market trends, procurement strategies and supplier networks.
