School Exams Officer – Secondary School

Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £101–£167 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start Date: 21 September 2026

Teach Now is seeking an organised and detail-focused School Exams Officer to manage the effective delivery of internal and external examinations at a supportive secondary school in Hertfordshire.

This important position requires accuracy, discretion and excellent forward planning. You will coordinate examination processes across KS3, KS4 and KS5, ensuring pupils, staff and invigilators are fully prepared and all arrangements comply with current JCQ and awarding-body regulations.

The Role

As the School Exams Officer, your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating examination entries, timetables, seating plans and candidate information.
• Liaising with awarding bodies, senior leaders, teachers, the SENCO and administrative staff.
• Ensuring examination rooms, papers and materials are prepared securely and correctly.
• Recruiting, briefing and coordinating examination invigilators.
• Managing access arrangements and ensuring approved support is in place.
• Maintaining accurate examination records and meeting all submission deadlines.
• Overseeing the secure receipt, storage and distribution of examination materials.
• Supporting results days, post-results services and certificate administration.
• Responding calmly and professionally to unexpected issues during examination periods.

About You

The ideal School Exams Officer will have:

• Previous experience in examinations administration or a similar school-based administrative role.
• Knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination procedures.
• Excellent organisation, accuracy and time-management skills.
• Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong IT and data-management skills; experience with school systems or examination software is desirable.
• The ability to work independently while communicating effectively with pupils, staff and external organisations.
• A calm, dependable approach during busy examination periods.
