Job Summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and reliable Examinations Officer to take responsibility for the effective coordination and administration of both internal and external examinations.
The successful candidate will oversee the examination process from planning and preparation through to completion, ensuring that all examinations are organised efficiently and run smoothly.
The Examinations Officer will act as the key point of contact between the school and external examination and awarding bodies. They will be responsible for ensuring that all examination arrangements meet the relevant requirements, regulations and procedures set out by awarding organisations and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).
The successful applicant will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively. They will be confident working independently while also working closely with colleagues across the school to ensure examination requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and administer all internal and external examinations.
- Plan examination timetables, rooms, staffing and resources.
- Liaise with examination boards, awarding organisations and other external agencies.
- Ensure the school remains fully compliant with JCQ and awarding-body regulations.
- Manage examination arrangements before, during and after examination periods.
- Communicate examination information and requirements clearly to staff and students.
- Organise and oversee examination invigilation and related staffing arrangements.
- Maintain accurate examination records and documentation.
- Ensure examination papers and confidential materials are securely stored and handled appropriately.
- Deal promptly and professionally with examination-related queries and issues.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure examinations are conducted fairly, efficiently and in accordance with regulations.
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and able to work calmly under pressure. You will need to be able to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
You will have excellent communication and administrative skills and be comfortable working with a range of people, including staff, students, parents/carers, examination boards and external organisations.
Previous experience of working within examinations or a similar administrative role would be advantageous, as would knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination procedures. However, we would also welcome applications from candidates who have strong organisational and administrative skills and are keen to develop within the role.
