Are you passionate about supporting young people, managing behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to learning?
An Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated and resilient Exclusion Room Manager to join its established Inclusion Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pastoral or behaviour support professional to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school's Exclusion Room. You will support students who have been internally excluded from mainstream lessons, ensuring they remain engaged with their education while reflecting on their behaviour and working towards positive change.
The Role
- Manage the day-to-day running of the Exclusion Room.
- Supervise students who have been internally excluded from mainstream lessons.
- Ensure students complete assigned work and remain engaged with learning.
- Promote positive behaviour, respect and personal responsibility.
- Support students in reflecting on their actions and understanding the consequences of their behaviour.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the wider Inclusion Department.
- Help students develop the attitudes and behaviours needed to reintegrate successfully into mainstream lessons.
- Maintain a safe, structured and purposeful learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working in a secondary school or a similar setting.
- Has experience in behaviour management, pastoral support or inclusion.
- Can confidently manage challenging behaviour using a calm, consistent approach.
- Has high expectations of student behaviour and achievement.
- Demonstrates resilience, patience and excellent communication skills.
- Is committed to inclusive education and improving outcomes for young people.
- Can work effectively as part of a supportive team.
Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Officer, Inclusion Officer, Internal Exclusion Supervisor or Behaviour Support Worker would be particularly relevant.
