Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced ELV Lead / BMS Controls Engineer to join a major data centre project team based on-site in Blyth, UK. In this key role, you will take full responsibility for managing the delivery, technical coordination, and commissioning of BMS and ELV systems through to final project handover.
Key Responsibilities
Package Management: Lead the BMS and ELV package delivery through all stages, from initial installation to final commissioning.
Design & Technical Leadership: Chair BMS design workshops between the design team and BMS providers, as well as review drawings, RFIs, and technical submittals.
Vendor & Site Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for external vendors, resolving site queries, attending daily coordination meetings, and participating in afternoon daily action boards (DABs).
Commissioning Oversight: Coordinate third-party vendors to keep commissioning schedules on track, attend testing sessions, and evaluate L3 testing outputs such as system performance data and screenshots.
Quality & Documentation: Inspect completed installations for QA/QC sign-off, upload documentation to the commissioning portal, and manage system RAG status tracking.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Represent the control systems discipline at commissioning, client, and vendor progress meetings.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Background: Academic or trade background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or Controls Engineering.
Sector Experience: Proven experience delivering BMS/ELV systems on large-scale construction developments or data centre projects.
Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of building automation systems, commissioning protocols, and system integration.
Core Competencies: Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings, effectively manage vendors, and demonstrate outstanding communication and organizational skills.
