Full Job Description

An F-Gas & Refrigeration Trainer and Assessor is required in near Harrow, Middlesex to deliver high-quality technical training and assessment across commercial refrigeration and air conditioning. The role will be primarily based at the centre in Middlesex with travel to either Basildon or Luton at times and occasional travel to other training locations when required. You will train and assess candidates against current industry standards while supporting them throughout their learning journey. The F-Gas & Refrigeration Trainer and Assessor will also lead the development of new technical courses including brazing, flammable refrigerants, hydrocarbon handling and wider refrigeration and air conditioning subjects. This position would suit an experienced commercial RAC professional who wants to use their technical knowledge to raise standards, develop new programmes and help grow a specialist training department.

Key Responsibilities:

 Deliver technical training and assessment across F-Gas, refrigeration and air conditioning scopes for which personal competence is held.

 Support candidates throughout their programmes, monitor progress and work with employers and colleagues to achieve timely completion.

 Conduct assessments and examinations in line with awarding body and scheme requirements.

 Mark work promptly and provide clear constructive feedback on assessment and examination outcomes.

 Maintain accurate assessment records and complete internal quality documentation to the required standard.

 Lead the development and implementation of new technical courses across Northolt and the secondary training centre.

 Design lesson plans, practical activities and learning materials for new and existing programmes.

 Identify facilities, equipment and resources required for safe, compliant and effective course delivery.

 Liaise with awarding bodies and industry partners to implement programmes covering pipework brazing, flammable refrigerants, hydrocarbon handling and wider RAC subjects.

 Monitor changes in legislation, industry standards and best practice then update training content and technical guidance.

 Lead technical standardisation and team training across F-Gas and refrigeration centres.

 Maintain safe and secure training areas, procure suitable equipment and oversee health and safety checks for workshops and classrooms.

 Support online learning development, respond to technical queries and identify opportunities to improve candidate numbers and departmental profitability.

Experience & Skills Required

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

 Hold current F-Gas qualifications and relevant commercial refrigeration and air conditioning certificates.

 Bring at least four years’ recent HVAC or RAC industry experience.

 Demonstrate hands-on commercial refrigeration and air conditioning experience.

 Apply detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, industry standards and safe working practices.

 Deliver engaging technical sessions with confidence and adapt explanations to different levels of experience.

 Assess candidate competence fairly and provide clear supportive feedback.

 Communicate professionally and build positive relationships with candidates, colleagues, employers and external partners.

 Organise workloads, records and resources accurately across multiple courses and deadlines.

 Work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative training team.

 Travel regularly from Northolt to either Basildon or Luton with occasional travel to other centres.

 Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

 Hold a recognised training, assessor or IQA award where possible although support can be provided to gain the required qualification.

 Bring heat pump or wider low-carbon technology experience as an advantage.

What's on Offer

This is a permanent full-time F-Gas & Refrigeration Trainer and Assessor position offering £40,000–£43,000 per annum and working Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm with courses normally finishing at 4.00 pm. You will receive 24 days’ annual leave plus eight bank holidays and an additional paid day off for your birthday. Further benefits include qualification support, ongoing technical development, incremental salary increases for additional training or assessment scopes, a workplace pension, optical care, a cycle-to-work scheme and complimentary employee breakfast. You will also have genuine influence over new course development and the long-term growth of the F-Gas and refrigeration department.

Salary :- £40,000–£43,000 per annum plus incremental increases for additional training and assessment scopes.

Location :- Near Harrow, Middlesex with travel to Basildon or Luton on occasions.
