Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Fabric Technician. This role is responsible for carrying out a wide range of building fabric maintenance and repair activities within commercial environments. The successful candidate will utilise their practical trade skills to complete maintenance tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

The position requires a versatile and proactive individual with experience across building fabric disciplines, including painting, decorating, joinery, carpentry, and general building repairs. Work will be managed through a technology-driven PDA system, requiring accurate updates and effective communication throughout the working day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake building fabric maintenance and repair works within commercial environments.
  • Carry out painting and decorating works to a high standard.
  • Complete joinery and carpentry repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform general building repairs as required.
  • Diagnose building defects and identify practical repair solutions.
  • Follow Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices at all times.
  • Manage workloads effectively and work independently where required.
  • Receive, update, and complete work orders using CAFM systems, PDAs, and email.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a Fabric Technician, Handy Person, Painter & Decorator, Joiner, Carpenter, or Multi-Skilled Maintenance role.
  • Experience working within commercial environments and the flexibility to undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of building fabric maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Proven experience carrying out painting, decorating, joinery, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose building defects and identify practical repair solutions.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using CAFM systems, PDAs, and email within a technology-driven environment.

Additional Requirement

  • Full UK driving licence (if required for regional support, with car or car allowance provided).
