Role: Facilities Engineer

Location: Romford

Hours: Days – 8-4

Salary: £43,500, Plus Private Healthcare, Holiday, Pensions

The Client

ATA are proud to be working with a global client within the pharmaceutical industry and they are a committed player within the healthcare sector with have main clients that include the NHS as well as the private healthcare sector. They have a UK manufacturing facility in Romford where the majority of products are made but also have facilities across Western Europe. With this role comes high job security and stability as 15 years ago they were producing 500,000 units a week, that number is now soaring at 1.5 million units per week supplying to nearly 100 countries around the globe. With the soar in production there has been mass investment in the site over the past 3 to 4 years nearly totalling at £20 million to modernise the site. Before my client took over the site in the late 10s the company before was established in the 1700s.

We are looking for a hands-on Facilities Engineer to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of site services, building systems and facilities infrastructure. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support improvement projects and ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a facilities Engineer you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across site facilities, utilities and building services.
  • Maintain and fault-find on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, compressed air and general building systems.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, facility issues and emergency call-outs to minimise downtime and disruption.
  • Support the installation, modification and upgrade of facilities equipment, services and infrastructure.
  • Complete routine inspections to identify defects, safety risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with production, operations, maintenance and external contractors to ensure facilities support business needs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety legislation, site procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity, inspections, repairs, parts used and contractor work.
  • Support energy efficiency, waste reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
  • Assist with permits, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work where required.
Skills and Experience Required

Ideally a facilities Engineer will

  • Previous experience in a facilities, maintenance, building services or multi-skilled engineering role.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance knowledge, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial, commercial or healthcare environment.
  • Ability to fault-find, diagnose and repair facilities-related equipment and site services.
  • Understanding of health and safety standards, permits to work, risk assessments and compliance procedures.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
  • Relevant engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent experience.
