The Role

You will work closely with identified families, building trusting relationships to support children’s engagement in education. This contract position offers you an opportunity to provide practical help that makes a real difference and contribute to the wider school and community environment.

 

Responsibilities
  • Work with families to improve pupil attendance and engagement in education
  • Support families in overcoming social and economic barriers by signposting and making referrals to support organisations, charities, and food banks
  • Carry out home visits and offer community-based support as required
  • Develop strong relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in safeguarding, attendance, and pastoral meetings
  • Collaborate with the school's pastoral, safeguarding and attendance teams to achieve the best outcomes for pupils

 

Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience supporting vulnerable children and families
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with families facing complex challenges
  • Experience of working alongside external agencies and community support services
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own transport
  • Social Work qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Ability to provide references covering the last 24 months

 

Location and Package
  • Location: Kings Norton
  • Start Date: 1 September 2026
  • Pay Rate: £118.89 per day
  • Contract Type: Long-term contract
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm; Friday: 8:30am – 2:30pm
