Field Service Engineer

Location: Reporting into Aldridge, covering Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire
Salary: £45,000–£48,500 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday Days

Questech Recruitment is working on behalf of an established specialist vehicle manufacturer to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer.

This is a mobile position involving the servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops. You will work independently across your designated area, diagnosing faults and ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.

The role

• Diagnosing and repairing faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
• Completing servicing, maintenance and repairs to a high standard
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections
• Ensuring work meets Department for Transport and industry standards
• Using diagnostic equipment and software to identify faults
• Recording completed work accurately using PDA systems
• Completing technical documentation, risk assessments and service records
• Communicating professionally with customers at their sites
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Travelling to customer locations, occasionally at short notice

What we’re looking for

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Field Service Engineer or Workshop Engineer
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle systems and compliance requirements
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Basic computer literacy and confidence completing technical records
• Flexibility around working hours and travel requirements

Experience working with electric vehicles, an IRTEC qualification or an HGV Class 2 licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
