Finance Business Partner - The Role:
As Finance Business Partner, you will be the key financial advisor to schools within the Trust. You will provide high-quality financial operational support, helping school leaders make decisions that put pupils at the heart of their planning. Working hybrid from Ruskington Chestnut Street Church of England Academy, you will guide schools through financial forecasting, budgeting, payroll management, and procurement, ensuring compliance with Trust and Education and Skills Funding Agency requirements.
Finance Business Partner - Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial operational advice as the first point of contact for schools on day-to-day finance matters
- Review management accounts, financial forecasts, and school payroll data, providing detailed commentary and support
- Guide schools through annual budgeting processes and assist with financial planning
- Facilitate procurement activities including service contracts, licenses, and insurance within authority limits
- Ensure schools comply with Trust financial procedures and regulatory requirements
- Support Head Teachers with income-generating activities and funding bid opportunities
- Assist with business cases for new school development plans
- Deliver school-level finance reports and manage census figure uploads
- Implement new financial systems and provide training as needed
Finance Business Partner - You:
- Hold Level 4 AAT qualification or equivalent (or working towards completion)
- Have experience working in a finance role within the education sector
- Demonstrate strong understanding of financial controls, strategic planning, and budgetary management
- Are proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Can explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS Clearance
- Show empathy with Church of England values and understand safeguarding requirements
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and can work independently and as part of a team
