Operating within a wider international group, the UK business combines manufacturing, processing and commercial operations and supplies products and solutions into a range of industrial and construction-related markets.

They are now looking to appoint a Finance Director who can provide strong financial and commercial leadership while playing an influential role in the wider strategic direction of the UK business.

Finance Director – The Role:

This is a senior leadership and statutory director position with responsibility for the financial strategy, governance and performance of the UK business. Working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, the Finance Director will provide both financial leadership and commercially focused challenge across the organisation.

The role encompasses financial reporting and control, tax, treasury, working capital, budgeting, investment appraisal and business systems improvement, alongside leadership responsibility for the wider Finance function

Operating within an international matrix structure, the successful candidate will need to understand both the financial performance of the UK operation and the wider commercial and operational factors affecting the business. They will act as a trusted advisor and objective voice within the senior leadership team, constructively challenging decisions, identifying risks and opportunities and ensuring robust financial insight supports future strategy.

Finance Director – Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the financial strategy, reporting and control environment across the UK business, ensuring accurate, timely and commercially relevant financial information

- Oversee statutory and management accounts, tax, treasury, working capital and the annual budgeting process

- Drive strong cash management, identifying risks to cash generation and opportunities to improve working capital performance

- Provide commercial and financial insight to the Managing Director and senior leadership team, constructively challenging business performance and supporting strategic decision making

- Evaluate investment opportunities and business cases, ensuring capital expenditure is supported by robust commercial and financial analysis

- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, controls and reporting across the organisation

- Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing, operational and commercial performance, identifying inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement

- Lead and develop the Finance team, creating a high-performing function which provides effective support and challenge across the business

- Provide senior leadership oversight of IT and Risk, Compliance & Governance

- Maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders and professional advisors including auditors, banks, insurers and tax advisors

Finance Director – You:

- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant senior financial leadership experience

- Experience gained within an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, construction or construction-related business, with a strong understanding of the commercial and operational dynamics of these environments

- Experience of working within a complex or matrix organisation, ideally as part of a wider international group

- A commercially astute Finance Director or senior finance leader who looks beyond the numbers and can contribute meaningfully to wider business strategy and performance

- Strong understanding of cash flow, working capital, financial control, budgeting, investment appraisal and business performance

- Experience of supporting business growth, organisational change and continuous improvement

- Comfortable operating across both strategic and operational matters and willing to develop a detailed understanding of how the business works

- An objective and level-headed leader with the confidence to challenge constructively and act as a trusted advisor to senior colleagues

- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to develop capable teams and create accountability

Personable and collaborative, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
