Are you an experienced finance professional looking for your next opportunity within a varied and responsible finance role?
We are currently supporting a well-established organisation with the appointment of a Finance Officer to provide efficient and effective financial support across the organisation, working closely with the wider finance team.
This is a varied opportunity covering a broad range of finance responsibilities, including bookkeeping, purchase and sales ledger, payroll, reconciliations, VAT, budgeting, financial reporting and supporting the wider finance function.
What You'll Be Doing
โ Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organisation's financial systems
โ Completing double-entry bookkeeping and maintaining income and expenditure accounts
โ Managing purchase ledger activities, including purchase orders, invoices, coding and payment runs
โ Managing sales ledger activities, including raising invoices, monitoring payments and supporting debt collection
โ Preparing invoices and monitoring outstanding payments
โ Completing month-end processes, including journals, virements, reconciliations and financial reports
โ Processing payroll from start to finish, including starters, leavers, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and expenses
โ Maintaining cashbooks and completing monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations
โ Completing VAT and relevant tax returns
โ Supporting cash flow forecasting, budget monitoring and the preparation of financial information
โ Assisting with annual budgets and year-end accounts
โ Supporting internal and external audits and liaising with accountants and auditors
โ Assisting with grant applications and identifying potential funding opportunities
โ Maintaining appropriate financial records for projects and organisational initiatives
โ Supporting areas including fixed assets, procurement, insurance, risk management and financial systems
โ Overseeing the regular banking of monies and maintaining appropriate banking records
โ Providing guidance and support to colleagues using financial systems
โ Supporting wider office and administrative duties when required
What We're Looking For
๐ก Previous experience working within a finance or accounting environment
๐ก Good understanding of bookkeeping and financial processes
๐ก Experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations
๐ก Experience processing payroll, including PAYE, National Insurance and pensions
๐ก Good understanding of VAT and financial compliance
๐ก Experience with month-end processes and financial reporting
๐ก Strong attention to detail and accuracy
๐ก Excellent organisation and time management skills
๐ก Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
๐ก Strong communication and interpersonal skills
๐ก A professional and confidential approach when handling financial information
๐ก Ability to work independently while also supporting colleagues across the organisation
