Finance Officer - Preston

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and friendly school in Preston to recruit a dedicated School Finance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school environment where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the school's finances.

The role is offered on a 12-month basis, in the first instance, with working arrangements of approximately 30 hours per week, term time only + 3 weeks contract.

Your new role

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance and effective financial administration.

• Processing purchase orders, invoices and payments
• Reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
• Supporting budget monitoring and financial reporting
• Managing income collection and banking procedures
• Liaising with suppliers and resolving invoice queries
• Assisting with month-end and year-end financial processes
• Supporting payroll administration where required
• Ensuring compliance with school financial regulations and procedures

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous finance experience, ideally within a school or public sector setting
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Experience using financial systems and Microsoft Excel
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  
  A recognised finance qualification, such as AAT, would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
