Anderson Knight is happy to partner with its global leading client in the transport sector to recruit a Financial Accountant to join its finance team based in Blantyre.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to join a well-established international business that offers a collaborative working environment, exposure to a fast-paced commercial operation, and the opportunity to develop their career within a supportive finance function.


The role offers a hybrid working pattern, with three days per week in the office and two days working from home.


The Role


Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate production of financial information while supporting month-end reporting, statutory compliance, and continuous process improvement.


Key responsibilities include:
•    Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting month-end and year-end close activities.
•    Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any variances.
•    Posting journals including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
•    Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and supporting the external audit process.
•    Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
•    Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
•    Producing financial reports and analysis to support business decision-making.
•    Maintaining the fixed asset register and assisting with capital expenditure reporting.
•    Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
•    Working closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business to provide financial support where required.


About You


We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience working within a financial accounting or assistant accountant position and are looking to take the next step in their career.


You will ideally have:
•    Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA.
•    Previous experience within a financial accounting, assistant accountant or similar finance role.
•    Strong knowledge of month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
•    Experience preparing journals, accruals and prepayments.
•    Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
•    Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
•    The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across the business.
